Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GlossPage ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the GlossPage application ("App" or "Service") and website. Section 18 describes optional website analytics separately from the App. GlossPage is designed to minimise data collection. The App does not require an account, does not show ads, does not use tracking cookies, and does not sell user data.

The App does not ask for your name, email address, location, or account details. However, screenshots, images, PDFs, captured Webtoon and Manga pages, recognised text, support emails, and optional Online Translation requests may contain personal information. This policy explains when that information stays on device and when it may be transmitted.

1. Who We Are

GlossPage is operated by Gleb Radchenko, who is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the Service.

Operator and data controller:
Gleb Radchenko
Steyrergasse 85, Top 4
8010 Graz, Austria

Contact details:

  • General enquiries: admin@glosspage.com
  • Support and privacy requests: support@glosspage.com

2. Local Processing by Default

By default, GlossPage processes screenshots, photos, PDFs, captured Webtoon and Manga pages, OCR output, translations, and translation history on your device. The App uses Apple's on-device Vision framework for OCR and Apple's on-device translation framework for local translation.

When you use local processing, your source images, PDF files, captures, recognised text, translated results, and history stay on your device unless you choose Online Translation or send information to us in a support email.

3. Optional Online Translation

Online Translation is optional and requires GlossPage Pro or an active Welcome Pass. When enabled, GlossPage sends recognised text blocks to a translation service so the requested image, book or document text can be translated online. The App does not send the original screenshot, image, Webtoon or Manga capture, or PDF file for Online Translation.

Online Translation requests may include recognised text block IDs and text, source and target language, provider, request type, image or PDF-page surface, page number, page count, document character estimates, request/page estimates, quota-session state, session token state, and related quota information. Responses may include translated text blocks, provider/model information, usage estimates, and quota status.

When glossary features use online translation or online name suggestions, requests may also include names, preferred translations, pronoun guidance, and short excerpts from the book or document. The glossary and your edits are stored on your device.

Online Translation also uses service metadata needed to authenticate, prevent abuse, and operate subscription quotas. This may include StoreKit authentication data, subscription tier and environment, pseudonymous user identifiers, Welcome Pass trial state, app version, build number, device model, locale, time zone, hashed install IDs, hashed App Attest or DeviceCheck tokens where used, hashed IP address where used, request counts, input/output character or token counters, cost counters, quota events, quota sessions, daily limits, and circuit-breaker state.

When you request Online Translation, the selected translation provider receives recognised text blocks and related request metadata through our service. Our service does not store the recognised text blocks or translated text after servicing the request. What we can verify is our own side: the App sends recognised text blocks and never the source image or PDF file, and our service neither stores nor logs that text. We cannot independently verify how a provider handles text inside its own systems; that is governed by the provider's terms and policies. GlossPage does not use Online Translation content for advertising, tracking, user profiling, model training, or sale to third parties.

4. Information We Do Not Collect Through the App

GlossPage does not collect the following through the App:

  • Your name or profile information
  • Your email address, unless you contact us by email
  • Account credentials, because no account or registration is required
  • Precise location data
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Tracking cookies
  • Data for advertising or user profiling

5. Personal Information in User Content

GlossPage does not ask you to provide personal information in order to use the App. However, the images, text, or documents that you choose to process may contain personal information. For example, a document may contain a name, address, signature, invoice number, ID number, or medical, legal, or financial information.

If you use only local processing, this content stays on your device. If you choose Online Translation, recognised text blocks and related request metadata may be transmitted as described above. If you contact support, the content you include or attach to your email is transmitted through your email provider and received by us.

6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

GlossPage offers optional weekly, monthly, and yearly subscriptions, as well as a one-time Local Lifetime purchase, that unlock additional features. Purchases, billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple through the App Store. The app-provided 7-day Welcome Pass does not require payment information.

  • We do not collect, see, or store your credit card number, billing address, bank details, or other payment information.
  • The App may use App Store receipt information to check whether your subscription is active.
  • Subscription terms, pricing, automatic renewal, cancellation, and refund handling are governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or by visiting support.apple.com/billing.

Apple's privacy practices for purchases are described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

7. Support Requests

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message. If you use an in-app support or "Email this example" flow, the email may include attached original and translated crops or screens, app version, build number, device model, iOS version, selected source and target language, selected provider or settings, status text, visible error messages, diagnostics, and an OCR decision trace file where available.

We use support information only to respond to your request, diagnose translation or OCR issues, improve the App, and handle any related privacy or technical issue.

Please avoid sending highly sensitive documents or personal information by email unless it is necessary for your support request.

Feedback emails

When you use the "Email this example" feature, the App opens your email client with pre-filled content. You decide whether to send the email and what to include. We receive your email at our support address and use it to improve the App. Like any email correspondence, you can request deletion at any time by contacting us at support@glosspage.com.

8. Diagnostic and Crash Data

When GlossPage crashes, iOS hands the App a crash diagnostic through Apple's MetricKit framework. On a later launch, if the App already holds an Online Translation session, it sends that diagnostic to our service: the exception type and code, signal, termination reason, call stack, iOS version, device model, App build number, and the day the crash occurred. The report carries no identifier of its own; it is attributed to the session that sends it, which is keyed to the install identifier or StoreKit subscription described in Section 3. It contains no screenshots, images, PDFs, recognised text, or translations. If the App has never held an Online Translation session, no crash report is sent.

We use these crash reports only to find and fix crashes. They become eligible for deletion thirty days after our service receives them and are removed by recurring scheduled cleanup. We do not use a third-party crash-reporting SDK, and the App does not collect MetricKit performance metrics such as launch times, hangs, or energy use.

Separately, if you have enabled "Share iPhone Analytics" in your iOS settings, Apple may collect crash reports and diagnostic information from your device and make related information available to us through Apple's developer tools, under Apple's policies. You can manage this setting at Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your iPhone.

9. How We Use Information

We use information only for the following purposes:

  • To provide local OCR and translation on your device
  • To provide Online Translation when you request it
  • To authenticate StoreKit subscriptions and Welcome Pass sessions
  • To estimate, enforce, and display Online Translation quotas
  • To verify App Store subscription status
  • To respond to support and privacy requests
  • To diagnose crashes and improve App stability
  • To comply with legal obligations where required

We do not use App data for advertising, cross-service tracking, user profiling, or sale to third parties. Optional website analytics is described in Section 18.

10. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data may be shared only in the following limited situations:

  • Online Translation providers: recognised text blocks and translation request metadata may be sent when you request Online Translation.
  • Infrastructure providers: hosting, database, security, and quota infrastructure may process service metadata needed to operate Online Translation. These providers also process crash diagnostics, including call stacks and device and App details, to receive, store, and help diagnose crashes; reports become eligible for deletion after thirty days and are removed by recurring scheduled cleanup.
  • Apple Inc.: Apple handles App Store purchases, subscription management, and optional diagnostic reporting.
  • Email providers: support emails and attachments are handled by the email services used to send and receive your message.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by applicable law or in response to a valid legal request from a court, public authority, or government agency.

11. Data Retention

GlossPage does not maintain a user account database. Translation history and exported documents are stored locally on your device under your control. You can delete your translation history in the App, or remove local App data by deleting the App.

Online Translation text blocks are transmitted to provide the requested translation but are not stored or logged by our service after the request is completed. Translation providers may apply their own retention practices under their terms and privacy policies.

Quota spend events used to meter Online Translation and reconcile costs are automatically deleted after ninety days. These records contain usage and authentication metadata, not source image pixels, PDF files, recognised text, or translated text.

Subscription entitlement checks, quota-session records, Welcome Pass eligibility records, reset and audit records, and related anti-abuse metadata are retained according to the purpose of each record: for as long as needed to verify paid access, enforce quotas and one-time Welcome Pass eligibility, prevent fraud or repeated claims, reconcile service costs, resolve disputes, or meet legal and accounting obligations. Because some of these purposes continue after a session, subscription period, or Welcome Pass ends, the related records may be retained after that access period. You may request deletion as described in Section 13; we may retain records that remain necessary for these purposes or where applicable law requires retention.

Crash reports the App sends to our service become eligible for deletion thirty days after our service receives them and are removed by recurring scheduled cleanup. Diagnostic information made available by Apple is governed by Apple's own policies and developer tools.

We retain support correspondence while the request or a related technical issue remains open. Once it is resolved, we delete personal information and attachments that are no longer needed. If particular correspondence is needed for an ongoing complaint, dispute, security investigation, or legal obligation, we retain only what is needed until the matter is concluded or the applicable obligation ends. You may request deletion at support@glosspage.com.

12. Children's Privacy

GlossPage is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Because the App does not require account creation and does not ask users to provide personal information, we do not knowingly collect child account data. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information through a support request, please contact us at support@glosspage.com and we will address the concern.

For users in the European Union, where the minimum age of digital consent may be higher depending on the member state, we apply the same principle: the App does not require an account and does not ask users to provide personal information.

13. Your Rights

Where applicable under law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of personal data we hold about you
  • Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Object to certain processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@glosspage.com. Because GlossPage does not use accounts or maintain a user database, we may have limited information to identify or retrieve. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

14. GDPR Information for European Users

GlossPage is operated from Austria and is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation where it applies.

Legal bases for processing:

  • Online Translation, StoreKit authentication, Welcome Pass authentication, quota metering, and subscription verification: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, because the processing is needed to provide the feature or service you request.
  • Support requests: legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, because we need to respond to user questions and resolve technical or privacy issues.
  • Crash and diagnostic information: legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, because we have a legitimate interest in maintaining a stable and secure App.
  • Legal compliance: legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR, where processing is required by applicable law.

International transfers: Some Online Translation or infrastructure providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we use providers that offer appropriate transfer safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy-based transfer mechanisms, or other lawful mechanisms under GDPR.

Right to lodge a complaint: If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Datenschutzbehörde at dsb.gv.at.

15. California Privacy Information

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use advertising identifiers, tracking cookies, or profiling for advertising purposes.

California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain uses of personal information, subject to applicable legal requirements. Because GlossPage does not use accounts and does not maintain a user profile database, we may have limited information to provide in response to a request.

To exercise privacy rights, contact us at support@glosspage.com.

16. Do Not Track

GlossPage does not track users across third-party websites or online services. Because we do not engage in this type of tracking, the App does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser or device signals.

17. Security

Network communications for Online Translation and support links use HTTPS where applicable. We minimise the amount of data processed by defaulting to on-device OCR and translation and by sending recognised text blocks, not source images or PDFs, for Online Translation. We do not operate a user account database.

18. Website Privacy

Optional website analytics: With your consent, this website uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand visits, traffic sources, page views, scrolling, outgoing links, video interactions, and clicks toward the App Store or TestFlight. This helps us improve the website and understand which pages lead people to GlossPage. A website click does not tell us whether you installed the App or made a purchase.

Google Analytics is not loaded before you select “Accept analytics”. If you decline, we do not send analytics events or load the Google Analytics script. Advertising features, Google signals, and advertising personalization are disabled in our website tag. This website analytics setup does not add analytics to the GlossPage App.

When enabled, Google Analytics receives page URLs and referrers, browser and device information, approximate location derived from your connection, interaction events, and pseudonymous cookie identifiers. Google processes connection information, including your IP address, to deliver the service. Do not put personal information in website URLs. We do not send book text, documents, translations, names, email addresses, or App content through website analytics. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.

The legal basis for optional analytics is your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Our tag sets first-party _ga cookies with a maximum lifetime of 180 days and without automatic expiry renewal. Your analytics choice is stored locally for 180 days. You can withdraw consent at any time using “Analytics settings” in the footer and selecting “Decline”; we stop analytics and remove its cookies from this site. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal. Clearing this site's browser data also removes your saved choice. Google may process analytics data outside the EEA under its applicable data-processing terms and transfer safeguards.

If you choose a display language, the site stores that preference locally in your browser so it can use the same language on your next visit. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser data.

Our hosting and security provider may process standard connection data, such as your IP address, request time, requested page, and browser information, as needed to deliver and protect the website. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles or track you across other services.

The homepage video is shown as a locally hosted preview. No YouTube player or external video thumbnail is loaded until you select “Watch the film”. Playing it loads YouTube’s embedded player, which sends connection and playback information to Google and may use cookies or browser storage under Google’s Privacy Policy. You can also choose the separate YouTube link.

19. Links to Other Services

The App may interact with third-party services, such as Online Translation providers, infrastructure providers, email providers, and the Apple App Store. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies and processing terms.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Changes are effective when posted.
