Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 08, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GlossPage ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the GlossPage application ("App" or "Service"). GlossPage is designed to minimise data collection. The App does not require an account, does not show ads, does not use tracking cookies, and does not sell user data.

The App does not ask for your name, email address, location, or account details. However, if you choose to use optional cloud features or contact us for support, the content you provide may contain personal information. This Privacy Policy explains when that may happen and how such information is handled.

1. Who We Are

GlossPage is operated from Austria. For GDPR purposes, we are the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with the Service.

Contact details:

  • General enquiries: admin@glosspage.com
  • Support and privacy requests: support@glosspage.com

2. Local Processing by Default

By default, GlossPage processes images, documents, recognised text, and translations on your device. The App uses Apple's on-device Vision framework for OCR and Apple's on-device translation framework for local translation.

When you use local processing, your images, documents, recognised text, and translation content do not leave your device.

3. Optional Cloud Features

Cloud processing is disabled by default. To use cloud features, you must first enable the "Cloud Translation" toggle in the App's settings. Even when this setting is enabled, cloud processing is used only when you explicitly request a cloud-based feature for a specific image, text, or document.

When cloud processing is used, the required content is transmitted over an encrypted connection using HTTPS. We do not use this content for advertising, user profiling, or sale to third parties.

Cloud translation of recognised text

When you request online translation, the text recognised by on-device OCR may be sent to a third-party cloud translation provider. In this mode, only the extracted text is sent. The original image is not sent.

Advanced OCR

When local OCR produces unsatisfactory results and you request Advanced OCR, small image regions that contain text may be sent to a cloud OCR provider. These regions are used to improve text recognition accuracy.

Note: If your image contains personal information in visible text regions, such as a name, address, document number, or other sensitive detail, those text regions may be included when Advanced OCR is used.

Advanced document translation

When you request advanced translation of a complex document, such as a multi-page PDF, the full document may be sent to a cloud document processing provider to produce a layout-aware translation.

Note: Please avoid using cloud document translation for highly sensitive documents unless you are comfortable with the document being transmitted to and processed by the relevant cloud provider.

Cloud service providers may have their own data handling and retention practices. We use providers that offer contractual data processing terms and, where applicable, appropriate GDPR safeguards. Content sent to cloud providers is used only to provide the requested OCR, translation, or document processing result.

4. Information We Do Not Collect Through the App

GlossPage does not collect the following through the App:

  • Your name or profile information
  • Your email address, unless you contact us by email
  • Account credentials, because no account or registration is required
  • Precise location data
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Tracking cookies
  • Data for advertising or user profiling

5. Personal Information in User Content

GlossPage does not ask you to provide personal information in order to use the App. However, the images, text, or documents that you choose to process may contain personal information. For example, a document may contain a name, address, signature, invoice number, ID number, or medical, legal, or financial information.

If you use only local processing, this content stays on your device. If you choose to use cloud features, the relevant content may be sent to a cloud provider as described above.

6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

GlossPage offers optional subscription plans that unlock additional features. Purchases, billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple through the App Store.

  • We do not collect, see, or store your credit card number, billing address, bank details, or other payment information.
  • The App may use App Store receipt information to check whether your subscription is active.
  • Subscription terms, pricing, automatic renewal, cancellation, and refund handling are governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or by visiting support.apple.com/billing.

Apple's privacy practices for purchases are described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

7. Support Requests

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this information only to respond to your request, provide support, and handle any related privacy or technical issue.

Please avoid sending highly sensitive documents or personal information by email unless it is necessary for your support request.

Feedback emails

When you use the "Email this example" feature, the App opens your email client with pre-filled content. You decide whether to send the email and what to include. We receive your email at our support address and use it to improve the App. Like any email correspondence, you can request deletion at any time by contacting us at support@glosspage.com.

8. Diagnostic and Crash Data

If you have enabled "Share iPhone Analytics" in your iOS settings, Apple may collect crash reports and diagnostic information from your device and make related information available to us through Apple's developer tools.

This information is generally provided in a form that does not directly identify you. We use it only to identify bugs, fix crashes, and improve App stability. You can manage this setting at Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your iPhone.

9. How We Use Information

We use information only for the following purposes:

  • To provide local OCR and translation on your device
  • To provide cloud translation when you request it
  • To provide Advanced OCR when you request it
  • To provide advanced document translation when you request it
  • To verify App Store subscription status
  • To respond to support and privacy requests
  • To diagnose crashes and improve App stability
  • To comply with legal obligations where required

We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, user profiling, or sale to third parties.

10. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data may be shared only in the following limited situations:

  • Cloud translation providers: recognised text may be sent when you request online translation.
  • Cloud OCR providers: image regions containing text may be sent when you request Advanced OCR.
  • Cloud document processing providers: documents may be sent when you request advanced document translation.
  • Apple Inc.: Apple handles App Store purchases, subscription management, and optional diagnostic reporting.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by applicable law or in response to a valid legal request from a court, public authority, or government agency.

11. Data Retention

GlossPage does not maintain a user account database. Translation history and exported documents are stored locally on your device under your control. You can delete your translation history in the App, or remove local App data by deleting the App.

Content sent to cloud providers is subject to the processing and retention terms of those providers. We do not store this content on our own servers beyond what is necessary to return the requested result.

App Store receipt information is used to verify subscription status. Support emails may be retained for as long as needed to handle the request and maintain appropriate business records. Diagnostic information made available by Apple is governed by Apple's own policies and developer tools.

12. Children's Privacy

GlossPage is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Because the App does not require account creation and does not ask users to provide personal information, we do not knowingly collect child account data. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information through a support request, please contact us at support@glosspage.com and we will address the concern.

For users in the European Union, where the minimum age of digital consent may be higher depending on the member state, we apply the same principle: the App does not require an account and does not ask users to provide personal information.

13. Your Rights

Where applicable under law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of personal data we hold about you
  • Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Object to certain processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@glosspage.com. Because GlossPage does not use accounts or maintain a user database, we may have limited information to identify or retrieve. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

14. GDPR Information for European Users

GlossPage is operated from Austria and is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation where it applies.

Legal bases for processing:

  • Cloud translation, Advanced OCR, advanced document translation, and subscription verification: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, because the processing is needed to provide the feature or service you request.
  • Support requests: legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, because we need to respond to user questions and resolve technical or privacy issues.
  • Crash and diagnostic information: legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, because we have a legitimate interest in maintaining a stable and secure App.
  • Legal compliance: legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR, where processing is required by applicable law.

International transfers: Some cloud providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we use providers that offer appropriate transfer safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy-based transfer mechanisms, or other lawful mechanisms under GDPR.

Right to lodge a complaint: If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Datenschutzbehörde at dsb.gv.at.

15. California Privacy Information

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use advertising identifiers, tracking cookies, or profiling for advertising purposes.

California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain uses of personal information, subject to applicable legal requirements. Because GlossPage does not use accounts and does not maintain a user profile database, we may have limited information to provide in response to a request.

To exercise privacy rights, contact us at support@glosspage.com.

16. Do Not Track

GlossPage does not track users across third-party websites or online services. Because we do not engage in this type of tracking, the App does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser or device signals.

17. Security

Network communications between the App and cloud providers use HTTPS encryption. We minimise the amount of data processed by defaulting to on-device OCR and translation where available. We do not operate a user account database or store user documents on our own servers.

18. Links to Other Services

The App may interact with third-party services, such as cloud translation providers and the Apple App Store. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies and processing terms.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Changes are effective when posted.
